Spokesman Chris Youngman explains: “Slinfold Concert Band played their traditional pre-Christmas concert at the Billingshurst Centre in 2014, and a packed house appreciated the quality playing to which the band’s many loyal supporters have become accustomed.

“The band has therefore decided to return to this venue for this year’s concert, which takes place at 3pm on Sunday, December 6.

“The concert is entitled Seasonal Selection, and Christopher Newport, the band’s musical director has chosen a selection of Christmas favourites, some well-known, others perhaps less so.

“These will be complemented by other pieces from the band’s extensive library, ensuring that there will be something for everyone to enjoy in the run up to the festive season.

“Ticket prices are very modestly priced at £8 for adults, or a bargain £1 for those aged eighteen or under, and are available from Jengers Craft Bakery, Jengers Mead, Billingshurst, Barns Green Village Stores, Slinfold Village Stores, or from the band on 01403 710015.

“Last year’s concert was a sell-out, so if you wish to enjoy a musical treat while supporting your local Concert Band, please buy your tickets in advance.

“The band has always considered itself a community band and has supported a number of local worthy causes over the years. Continuing this theme, the band is pleased to offer support to Billingshurst Emergency Action Team, who will be running a fund-raising raffle at the concert.”

Chris added: “2015 has once again been a busy year for the band.

“In addition to its many regular venues, other enjoyable engagements have included playing with the choir in St Mary’s Church, Horsham, and a concert at the Capitol in May, where the band was joined on stage by the choir of St Mary’s. Both events attracted good audiences, and the band is hoping to return to St Mary’s in April 2016.”
