Orchestra’s final show at church

The Sussex Symphony Orchestra will be performing for the last time at Holy Trinity Church, Cuckfield on Saturday, September 14.

Over the past year the orchestra has been resident at Holy Trinity Church and not only performed a range of different concerts but also provided musicians for social events including the Cuckfield Society’s Charity auction night.

The orchestra has run a very successful lunchtime recital series too, which concludes with two performances on October 4 and November 1.

Hannah Carter, chair of the orchestra, said: “The lunchtime concerts have had a wide and varied audience including pre-schoolers from Next Step Nursery (and their dog) and residents from a local nursing home.

“These concerts are free to the public and give people an opportunity to take time out from their busy lives to come and hear some relaxing music.”

The concert on Saturday, September 14, promises to be a very special evening with a wonderful programme of music including a world premiere of ‘Chorale’ composed by Paul Carr as well as the beautiful Concerto for Flute and Harp in C Major by Mozart.

The evening will finish with Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony, which portrays the glorious English countryside with daybreak, bubbling streams, village dancing and storms.
