‘Mr Music’ back with choral music in Arundel

Keith Clark little suspected that nearly 30 years later he would be returning to the area where he created the Six Village Choir and created and led the Westergate Chorale.

On Friday, August 19 at 7.30pm, Keith returns to St Nicholas Church, in Arundel, where 30 years ago he was the Director of Music, to present a concert of choral music, he promises, “of the highest standard”.

He will be conducting 50 members of the Hampshire County Youth Choir in a programme that ranges across the centuries providing something for everyone’s taste.

“This choir, recently successful in concerts at the Royal Albert Hall and the Anvil, in a joint programme with the Treorchy Male Voice Choir, have chosen to come to West Sussex after their trip to Vancouver Island in Canada was cancelled due to rises in the cost of air travel,” Keith said.

“This magnificent choir will be entertaining with sacred and secular items, with pop song arrangements, as well as tried and tested classics of the choral repertoire.

“The choir, who have been on a residential singing holiday in West Sussex for the week, have only one performance, on Friday in Arundel, before they return home.”

Keith said it was a delight, but a somewhat emotional journey, to return to his more youthful haunts and he hopes that this free concert will encourage some of his previous singers to come to hear what he has been doing more recently. He would love to see some old friends and all are welcome.
