Horsham District Council is inviting everyone to join in with the theme by wearing fancy dress to the event to pay tribute to the weird and wonderful characters in the book.

The council’s Museum will also be holding a fascinating exhibition throughout July and August, exploring our local links with the real life Alice, and Sparks in the Park is planning a range of themed activities including tea parties, entertainers and fancy dress competitions.

The event will take place in Horsham Park on Sunday July 12 from midday.

Another first for the event is the appearance of the first ever SprungDigi digital arts festival which Horsham is hosting. This free to attend arts festival will feature the work of local learning disabled people alongside digital artists. The festival is supported by Horsham District Council and Art Council England and, as it runs from July 10 to 12, it will spend its third day at the Sparks in the Park event.

Cabinet member for leisure and culture Jonathan Chowen commented: “I am delighted the council continues to organise and host this fantastic event for the community of Horsham. The council has a great track record in creating some of the most fun, accessible and inclusive events which appeal to the whole family.

“I would encourage you all to come along and enjoy this year’s special Alice in Wonderland theme.”

This year’s programme also includes the return of regular favourites: the annual Skate Jam, the Community Stage packed with local performers, Community Safety Display, Have a Go Sports Zone, Benson’s Funfair, Stay Safe Young Driving Experience, KAPOW alternative wrestling, a Food Court and Horsham Rotary’s Charity Zone.

Sparks in the Park 2015 will also feature a preview of this summer’s much anticipated Elephantastic Elephant trails organised by Horsham Rotary and the Born Free Foundation.
