Fun times ahead for spring

“Commentator and stand-up Mark Steel will be taking to The Hawth stage this spring. The presenter of The Mark Steel Solution (Radio 4) and The Mark Steel Lectures (BBC2) brings his brilliant comic musings to Crawley for one night only on Tuesday, February 8 at 8pm.

“The ever-popular Lenny Henry will be at the theatre with his brand-new one-man show Cradle To Rave on Thursday, February 10 at 7.30pm. Fresh from his award-winning stint in Northern Broadside’s Othello, he returns to his roots with a funky, funny and touching show about the thing he loves most: music.

“Following the huge success of his Radio 4 series, TV appearances and his Out Out tour, Micky Flanagan comes to Crawley for the first time on Thursday, March 3 at 8pm. Drawing on his East End background, Micky ruthlessly deconstructs the cockney myth with razor-sharp observational wit. He tells a comic tale of a working-class upbringing, where alphabetti spaghetti is a luxury.

“After the fantastic audience response on their last visit, Pappy’s are back in the Studio with their new show All Business on Thursday, April 1 at 8.15pm. Pappy’s were nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2007, won a Chortle Award in 2008 and have earned a string of five-star reviews in their five years at the Edinburgh Fringe.

“Later in the year you can look forward to acclaimed comic from The Friday Night Project, 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Radio 5 Live’s 7 Day Sunday, Rob Rouse in the Studio with his new show, The Great Escape on Tuesday, May 24.

“And on Wednesday, May 25 audiences can treat themselves to truly-hilarious evening with one of the UK’s most innovative comedians, Dom Jolly with Welcome To Wherever I Am. Dom talks us through the perils of travelling the world skiing down volcanoes, holidaying in Chernobyl, trying to fly across the Grand Canyon strapped to an eight-foot rocket, being arrested in Switzerland while dressed as a yeti and eating from Gillian McKeith’s pants while imprisoned in the Australian jungle.”
