Fashionable history talk

Focusing on the period which saw new boutiques opening nationwide and celebrity style becoming affordable, the talk follows the trends for the most iconic clothing of the time from minis and maxis to kipper ties, bell-bottoms and platforms.

In addition to sharing her knowledge of fashion facts, Suzanne teaches ten-week 20th century fashion history courses at Worthing Museum using garments and objects from the museum’s costume collection to bring the social and cultural history of the last century to life.

The museum’s costume and textiles collection is one of the largest in the country, housing approximately 30,000 objects and featuring items dating from the 17th century to the present day. A Flare for Fashion offers a preview of the clothing and style of topic covered in the museum’s courses which start again on September 28 and cover a different decade each week.

Suzanne, who also teaches fashion students at Sussex Coast College in Hastings and designs and makes projects for Making Magazine, invites audience members to dress in their favourite nostalgic fashions for the evening’s talk, to create an audience-wide style showcase.
