AROUND 200 teachers gathered at Worthing's Pavilion Theatre on Thursday as part of a one-day national strike.
The action was called in response to the Government's decision to increase teachers' pay by just 2.45 per cent, below the rate of inflation.

Teachers at this morning's rally said it was effectively a pay cut when the cost of living was on the increase.

Schools across the county affected by closures included Boundstone Community College in Lancing, The Angmering School, Worthing High School, Flora McDonald Junior School in Littlehampton, Shoreham First School, Chichester High School for Girls and Thomas Bennett Community College in Crawley.
