THE source of strange lights spotted over Worthing's skies has been exposed by the police helicopter crew.
Tarring locals reported seeing the police helicopter "chasing" the lights on Saturday night (August 23) in what they believed to be dramatic contact with an unidentified flying object.

But a police helicopter spokesman has dampened dreams of alien contact by revealing the helicopter, which was on its way to another job, reported back quickly that the lights were of earthly origin.

They were caused by balloons with candels attached.

He added: "It's quite common."
