Michael Kiwanuka plays the Komedia, Brighton on February 15 on the back of the release of his new EP, Home Again on January 1 through Polydor Records.

“Home Again heralds another fine glimpse into this unique, British voice for 2012,” says spokeswoman Eleanor Swan.

“Selling out his own shows following a spate of support dates with Adele in the UK and Europe, Kiwanuka is a London-born singer and songwriter with such a genuine raw talent that his forthcoming debut album, Home Again, is already shaping up to be an enthralling body of work.

“Originally lacking the confidence to sing his own songs, it was the discovery of Bob Dylan and Otis Redding, particularly their phrasing, that spoke to Michael above and beyond anything else he’d previously heard. It led him to the back catalogues of Terry Callier and more recently Laura Marling, and his own work followed soon afterwards.

“Working alongside Paul Butler from The Bees in Paul’s home studio on the Isle Of Wight, it’s a partnership that has taken Michael’s melodies, lyrics and effortless voice and built them into timeless and rootsy folk-inflected modern soul recordings. Borrowing musicians on the Isle where necessary, the majority of the instrumentation on the record is shared between Michael and Paul.”
