Top pianist Ben Waters returns to Coolham club

Ben Waters, the best boogie woogie piano player in Europe, is returning to Coolham Live Music Club with his band.

The musician is back by popular demand on Sunday, November 2, together with Tom Waters, his very talented 14-year-old son on saxophone. Also Joining Ben and Tom is special guest Jon Wigg on fiddle.

The gig starts at 3.15pm at Coolham Village Hall. Doors open at 2.45pm.

Ben Waters is a leading professional musician who excels in the arts of boogie blues and rock ’n’ roll piano and vocals. He is also a professional music tour and festival organiser.

Ben’s name has become synonymous with excellent musicianship and performance. He has worked with many famous performers, including The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Shakin Stevens, Screaming Lord Sutch and Amy Macdonald.

He has released more than 10 albums to date, including, Boogie 4 Stu – A tribute to Ian Stewart, which features Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Bill Wyman, Jools Holland and PJ Harvey.

Ben regularly plays all over Europe and has recently returned from Winnenden in Germany where he was performing with Jools Holland and Chris Jagger, he’s also played in New York and Dubai this year and in February 2015 he will be playing in Singapore before travelling on to Australia where he has a string of dates in Melbourne, Sydney, The Whitsunday Islands and Brisbane.

Opening the show is the Sam Kelly Trio, featuring Spy Austin on bass, Tony Qunta on guitar and vocals and Sam Kelly on drums. Sam Kelly’s Band has a musical catalogue covering all genres of music, played in their own particular style but with the roots firmly based in bringing audiences great entertainment.

Sam’s long career covers live gigs, festivals, drum workshops, theatre work, radio and TV sessions, both in the UK and overseas. He has been voted into Blues In Britain magazine’s Gallery of the Greats, as a five-times winner of the ‘UK Drummer of the Year’ award.

Spy is regarded as one of the best professional reggae/soul bass players on the London music circuit. He has worked with The Investigators, Gil Scott Heron, Desmond Dekker, George Clinton, Style Council and Jocelyn Brown.

As a professional musician, with over 20 years in the business, Tony Qunta has worked with artists such as Odyssey, Mervyn Afrika, Cheryl Alleyne and Mamadi Kamara. His theatre credits include Dancing In The Streets, Tell Me On A Sunday and Soultrain.

Ben and Tom will be joining Sam for a 20 minute jam at the end of Sam’s set.
