Arundel’s Willows Folk Club welcomes folk legends Martyn Wyndham-Read & No Man’s Band on Wednesday, October 5.
Club spokesman Chris Davis said: “A long-standing friend of the Willows, Martyn Wyndham-Read is one of the most towering figures in folk music.
“English by birth, Martyn is perhaps best-known for his critically-acclaimed work showcasing folk songs from Australia. Although a country often overlooked as a source of fine folk material, Martyn has been showcasing the wondrous, melodic beauty of Australian folk song for over 30 years, resulting in the production of more than 30 albums, many considered classics of their genre.
“A warm and instantly-engaging performer, with an outstanding voice and an arresting guitar style, Martyn is equally at home in large concert halls and theatres or in the folk clubs in which he first made his name many years ago.
“Appearing on stage with Martyn for his appearance at the Willows are his critically-acclaimed group No Man’s Band, featuring Iris Bishop on accordion, Jon Wigg on fiddle, and Gary Holder on double bass.
Entrance for Martyn and the band’s gig on is £6. The Willows Folk meets every Wednesday at 8pm in the function room of Arundel Football Club, Mill Road, Arundel, situated to the rear of the large public car park opposite Arundel Castle.
