TWO sets of twins from Steyning Athletic Club stormed to success in a national championship meeting, in London.
More than 50 youngsters took part in the Race Walking Association younger age group event, competing over various distances around a course at Victoria Park.
They were joined by around 50 senior and veteran walkers, with competitors coming from far and wide, including the Isle of Man and the Republic of Ireland.
Sarah Warren, of the club, said: "This year, Steyning Athletic Club was able to send a strong under 13 squad to the races, as well as experienced walkers Chris Ball and his dad, Jim. In all, eight walkers represented Steyning AC."
Jim Ball took part in two races, finishing fourth in both the five kilometre open walk and the three kilometre veterans' race.
His son Chris came third in the under 17s' five kilometre walk, while Isabel Green and twins Ellen and Olivia Winter finished third, seventh and eight respectively in the under 13s' team event, securing third place for Steyning overall and personal-best performances and medals in their first championships.
Sarah said: "However, the best result of the day was from Lawrence Green, Isabel's twin brother, who stormed the under 13s' boys' race with the fastest time this year to be crowned national champion. He joins a long list of previous champions in Steyning's proud history."
