A SCHOOL has scaled new heights by receiving a special ALPS award.
The "A-level performance systems" certificate was presented to Steyning Grammar School in recognition of its sixth form's achievements. ALPS looked at 975 schools and specialist sixth-form colleges, ranking Steyning Grammar School 203rd in the whole country.

Head teacher Dr John Peat said: "The success of our sixth form was noticed by this national body."

He added staff at the school were thrilled with the award, which recognised their hard work and that of the students.

Dr Peat said: "We are delighted. Last summer, on the basis of our A and B grades and pass rate at A-level, we were one of the highest-ranking schools in Sussex. This confirms we are a high performer nationally."
