The Weald ladies 1st team completed their National League Division South East South season in glorious style with a whitewash win at Hampden Park. That secured them fourth place, making them the top Sussex team.
Against fifth placed Park, Weald had to work hard for their superb win, which included two of the four singles going to three sets and taking almost three hours.
Captain Petra Sedova capped a fine season with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Kim Reed, and Claudia James won 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 after letting a 5-0 lead slip in the final set. Despite that blow, James showed great belief in her shots to rescue the tie break.
Freya Loughton saw off tenacious Aussie Sasha Morris in just under three hours, while Rose Naested had her first win at this level to complete the four singles wins.
The doubles were then won comfortably to complete the whitewash.
Other wins over the same weekend came from the mens 3rd team against Grasshoppers (Brighton) 4-2, the 14s boys A team 6-0 against West Worthing and the 10s 6-0 against Middleton, where there were debut wins for Lucy Jaffe and Lotte Bower as they both beat boy opponents. The team was led by Marcus Rice, who had his first win at No 1 and the victory was completed by Nathaniel Benstead.
