It’s been another busy period for Bognor’s Tone Zone athletes.

A club record of 27 members made their way to the Top Gear test track at Dunsfold to take part in the Surrey Spitfire and Tempest races. First home for the club in the 20-mile Spitfire race was Chris Gallagher who continued his excellent 2016 form with a personal-best time of 2hr 36min 16sec.

The greatest performance of the weekend was by Amanda Worne, who had a bike accident last August. She once again put on her race vest but this time it was to wheel herself round the 5k Bognor parkrun.

Laura Newell also had a great run, taking almost ten minutes off last year’s time, completing the course with a PB of 2.58.27.

In the ten-mile race, Adam Norgett was the first Tone Zoner home and Natalie King continued to improve in her races and finished in 1.35.23.

Andy Miles was the only club runner to make his way to Woking for the Surrey Half and it was worthwhile as he achieved a great time of 1.48.18.

The greatest performance of the weekend was by Amanda Worne, who had a bike accident last August. She once again put on her race vest but this time it was to wheel herself round the 5k Bognor parkrun.

She bravely completed the parkrun in 48 minutes and despite being exhausted said it felt ‘awesome’ to be back and everyone at the club echoes those words.

Last weekend, Tone Zone runners competed in eight different races. In the Hastings half marathon, first home of the five club attendees was Jess Thomson in 1.48.37 followed soon after by Paul Westwood.

Paul Coe ran the New Forest 50k Ultra, completing the tough 31-mile race in 4.44.26. Next day, he put his running shoes on again for the 20-mile race with his partner Laura. They stuck together for the run and finished in 3.20.23.
