Stacey makes amends by sealing team win for Northern Ireland

Stacey Hancock sank the winning 8-Ball amid jubilant scenes in Blackpool to give Northern Ireland ladies a landmark team triumph against England.

The Burgess Hill 27-year-old made up for the disappointment of going out in the last 16 of the world singles by winning the decisive match to seal a 13-11 victory.

England had threatened a major comeback by winning the previous two frames but on a day of marathon matches and exciting finishes, the conclusion to the ladies final just about topped the lot.

The NI team lost two games in the early stages while England, skippered for the first time by world singles finalist Barbara Taylor, slipped up just once against 2010 winners Wales. In the semis, the champions-elect beat Wales 13-10 while England swamped South Africa 13-4.
