Footballing legends gather at Mannings Heath for a charity golf day in aid of children’s medical research charity Sparks.

Presented by Alan Brazil, 15 sporting legends and presenters including Ray Parlour, Ossie Ardiles, Ricky Villa, Sir Trevor Brooking and Ray Wilkins each joined a team of three guests to play on the exclusive members only 18-hole Waterfall course for the Alan Brazil Classic.

The competition was followed by a three-course dinner, entertainment courtesy of comedian Bob ‘The Cat’ Bevan MBE, and an auction with prizes including a behind the scenes tour at TalkSport and a signed Tottenham Hotspur 1981 FA Cup final shirt.

Daniel Smith, head of golf at Sparks, said: “We’re delighted the inaugural Alan Brazil Classic at Mannings Heath was such a success and we couldn’t be more delighted to have raised £17,000 towards our vital children’s medical research.

“I would like to say thank you to everyone who took part, including the sport stars who volunteered their time to help out.

“Guests had a wonderful time playing on the fantastic course in the company of the celebrities and enjoyed the evening’s entertainment.”
