FOLLOWING Rye United Football Club’s withdrawal, the Sussex County Football League has confirmed all their unfulfilled fixtures will be awarded to their opponents.
In accordance with FA rules, all of The Quarterboys’ remaining Division 1 fixtures will be deemed unfulfilled and the opponents will be awarded the three points.
Any players previously registered with Rye are now free to re-register with another club before the March 31 deadline.
Although, any player that has already played for the club in cup competitions this season will remain cup tied.
This announcement from the SCFL has come after Rye paid their withdrawal fine.
The club, who said they were in financial difficulties, withdrew from the league following a members’ vote during an extraordinary general meeting last Thursday night.
