This was shortly followed by Hythe getting a second when Hill conceded a free kick twenty yards out and Phil Stevenson placed his kick inside Josh James’ near post. Burgess Hill got back in the game when Greg Luer showed his class on twenty seven minutes and was found at the far post from a cross and he calmly placed his shot in at the near post. Hythe had a good chance to add another to their score when Ashley Miller hit a well struck shot but Josh James was alert and turned the ball out for a corner. Luer had two chances in quick succession the first he flicked the ball over the bar and the second saw Hythe’s keeper Roddy Hayward save well at Luer’s feet, Hayward was called upon again on thirty seven minutes when he saved a Lee Harding effort. On the stroke of halftime Pat Harding found himself with a free header inside the box but he put the ball over.

After a half time Ian Chapman team talk Hill came out for the second half with a different attitude and created their first chance only two minutes in when Luer ran through but was unable to beat the advancing Hayward, Ian Chapman made his intensions clear when he took off Darren Budd in midfield and introduced Dan Perry to play up front and straight away this created a great chance for Lee Harding. But once again Hayward came out on top. Hill should have drawn level on sixty one minutes when Luer put in a dangerous freekick which led to a goal mouth scramble but somehow Hythe managed to get the ball clear. Burgess Hill made two more changes with Pat Harding and Toby Pointing going off and Rob O’Toole and new signing Callum Saunders coming on. Hythe had the next chance when Ashley Miller curled hit shot against the post. From this chance Hill drew level when they went straight up the other end and Luer found O’Toole who’s cross found Dan Perry in the box and he smashed the ball home. Hill pushed for a winner and but just couldn’t find it but they remain unbeaten in the league.
