BOGNOR remain in the top five of a tightly-packed top half of the Ryman premier after a 1-1 draw at Hendon.

Sami El-Abd’s 72nd-minute goal canceled out an early strike by Finnbar Robins for the home side to end a run of two straight league defeats for the Rocks.

They’re now fifth with 38 points - just four points beghind leaders Dulwich. But the top NINE are separated by just five points.

Bognor’s next two matches are not league affairs - they go to Eastbourne Town in the third round of the Sussex Senior Cup on Tuesday and visit National League South side Maidstone in the first round of the FA Trophy next Saturday.

Striker Chike Kandi is eligible for both games after extending his loan from Championship high-flyers Brighton for another month.

In the Southern Combination, Miles Rutherford is really making his mark at Chichester City, whose 3-0 home win over Horsham YMCA came thanks to a Jimmy Wild double and a Dan Hegarty goal.
