MILE OAK Football Club pulled off a cup surprise in their home Sussex Senior first-round clash with Chichester City last night.
In a six-goal thriller, Oak raced into a two-goal lead with strikes from Jamie Watts and Adam Dine.
However, an inspired second half showing from Chi saw Jimmy Wild pull a goal back for his side.
But Oak restored their two-goal advantage as Eric Wedge-Bull netted.
Wild bagged his second with eight minutes left to set-up a grandstand finish but Jack Arnold struck with three minutes left to ensure Oak progressed.
Anthony Whittington’s side knew they were in for a tough task as they welcomed division-higher Southern Combination League Premier Division side City.
But Oak were not overawed and produced a fine display to book their place in the competition’s second round.
MILE OAK: Stenning; Whiting, Turley-George, Hall, MacDonald; Pullinger, Maskell, Watts, Curd; Wedge-Bull; Dine. Subs: Lansdale, Arnold, French, Gillingham, Garrod.
