Cuckfield Cosmos FC were immensely proud but felt the anguish of former player and local lad, Dean Cox, as he scored for Leyton Orient in the Div 1 playoff final at Wembley on Sunday but narrowly missed out on promotion to Rotherham after a penalty shoot-out.
Cox, a former pupil at St. Wilfrid’s School and Oathall Community College in Haywards Heath played a key role in securing Orient’s place in the final and described it as a dream come true to play at Wembley.
The whole of Cosmos were rooting for the right outcome for the player who left at
Under 15’s after being signed by Brighton and Hove Albion’s Centre of Excellence where he started his successful professional career. Hopefully next season will see him achieve instant promotion with The O’s and everyone at Cuckfield Cosmos FC willing him on!!
