His side kicks-off their season on Saturday afternoon with a home game against Guernsey.

The whole team is outstanding. If we can beat last year’s performance, that would be a success.”

Last season saw a vast improvement in fortunes after struggling to make an impact in their first two seasons in the Ryman League.

They enjoyed their highest ever finish in seventh place in what was their third campaign since winning promotion to the league.

Faili said: “We are hoping to get into the play-offs.

“The whole team is outstanding. If we can beat last year’s performance, that would be a success.

“The jump from the County League to the Ryman League was a huge shock to us.

“Our aim in the first two years was to stay up, which we did.

“In our third year (last season) our aim was to finish 12-13th. We lacked a bit of belief up to Christmas. But we got it back in the New Year and pushed on and finished seventh.

“This was largely due to the coaching of Mark Hawthorne, Simon Wormull and Paul Hammond.

“The main thing was we all enjoyed it and that gave us the edge. We love doing what we do.

“That is reflected in that we have mainly kept all our squad, with only Nathan Crabb and Martin Dynan leaving.”

They have been replaced by former Eastbourne Town, Burgess Hill and Littlehampton Town midfielder Matt Percival and defender Danny Mobsby, formerly of Broadbridge Heath.

Faili praised: “They are both very good players and will be great additions to the team.”
