Crawley Town have made two bids to sign Halifax Town striker Lee Gregory.
A club spokesman confirmed Reds were attempting to sign the player but it is understood the clubs are yet to agree on terms.
John Gregory is looking for a replacement for striker Gary Alexander, who today (Friday, January 31) left to join Burton Albion, but Reds are likely to face a fight with a number of other clubs also monitoring the situation.
Gregory, 25, has scored 18 goals in 23 appearances this season for the Shaymen in the Conference and is thought to be attracting the attentions of fellow League One and Championship clubs.
