Two late goals by Trevor McCreadie and Gary Holloway earned Crawley Down victory away to bottom of the table Corinthian Casuals.
Following a series of defeats, this welcome win lifted Simon Wormull’s side up to second in the Ryman South table.
The match start was delayed 20 minutes by traffic problems on the M25 which left the Anvils missing their goalkeeper Kieron Thorp, Dapo Kayode, Tom Bold and their fans.
Full-back Owen Roberts covered for Thorp, but stout defensive work by the Anvils defence held Casuals at bay until Joel Thompson gave Casuals the lead in the 27th minute,
Down’s Trevor McCreadie scuffed shot at keeper Danny Bracken before Lee Carey forced Bracken to brilliantly flip the ball over for a corner.
At half-time Thorp, Dapo Kayode and Tom Bold had all arrived and were quickly stripped for action.
McCreadie had a goal disallowed before Bold came on for the unseen Wade Eason, and just after Kayode broke free down the left and supplied the cross for the lurking McCreadie to nod home a 76th minute equaliser.
Down took the lead 10 minutes before the final whistlee when Bold found Holloway who scored with a stooping header.
Thompson was Casuals’ main threat and in the last few minutes struck the crossbar.
Down could have won by a bigger margin but missed penalty in the 90th minute after Bold was hauled down in the box.
