Have your say

Regular readers of this column will know my thoughts about the Ryman Premier League.

Its a tough environment to operate in.

The list is full of giants, habitual mid-tablers and clubs that can make late headway.

Our local Ryman team Burgess Hill Town FC are doing everything possible to compete but its been a long hard road over the past two seasons.

After a near disaster last term Ian, his back room staff, officials and players have been working very hard to keep this club in the division. And its been working out quite well as with ten games to go the club need just 10 points to survive. Hopefully these will come in the next four home games starting on Tuesday evening.

Unfortunately, the Hillians ran into a squad who are very much on the rise this week end.

Big home support

Big home support

Billericay Town FC, at New Lodge, had spent most of the season hovering around mid table but have recently taken things to a new level. Apart from the glittering signing of Paul Konchesky, ex-Liverpool, Spurs, West Ham and Fulham player, they have made other changes including changing the manager.

When all added together and backed by a vocal home support of 850 they are now a force to be fearful of. It was Ryman Premier v Conference level out on that pitch and Hill never stood a chance!

For us travelling support it was a tough 90 mins to bear. But in truth, apart from the result we had quite a nice day.

The weather was nearing a heat wave in Essex and to our amazement the traffic was at an all time low. It all made for a hassle free afternoon and it was very pleasant viewing conditions. The town itself is set amongst low rolling green fields and as someone described 'leafy'. Not a term usually associated with Essex. Plus my old man, Alfie, made the trip from Faversham to lend his support.

So yet another pleasant Ryman Premier League away day completed, new ground ticked off and getting to see dad a bonus. As for the result there is no disgrace or hidden agenda going on for BHTFC, we simply got undone buy a much better team. We all need to go again on Tuesday evening when title seeking Bognor Regis Town FC make the short trip to Mid Sussex 7.30pm start. IT WOULD BE A GOOD ONE TO WIN!!
