Pulborough also conceded their opening West Sussex Invitation League Division 1 match of the season to Eastergate at the weekend.

Littlehampton get all 30 points as a result and captain James Askew said: “It’s disappointing from our perspective as we want to play and get time out in the middle.

“I know Pulborough have got a meeting with the league and their second team are still playing this weekend but I’m not sure what is happening.

“We get the 30 points, although they would then go if Pulborough end up pulling out of the league.

“I’ve been told they’ve lost seven or eight players from last year and struggled to get a team last week because of the football season.

“Now they’ve conceded to us as well but, hopefully, they’ll be able to get teams out for the rest of the season. They were in the Premier League, like us, not too long ago and I thought they’d be a team to watch out for this season as they finished very strongly in the second half of last year.”

Some of Littlehampton’s 1st XI players may now feature for the club’s other teams this weekend and Askew also said his side are looking to host a T20 friendly on Tuesday.
