VIDEO: Roffey Cricket Club plans take shape

Roffey Cricket Club’s plans to introduce women’s cricket are gathering pace after work started on new changing rooms.

The Sussex League club won a £50,000 grant from the Places People Play National Lottery fund, and work started last week on constructing a changing area which could accomodate female teams.

Roffey CC treasurer Peter Chesseman said: “This was mainly down to the splendid work of Maria Henderson, in the early part we didn’t realise what she was doing, she persued it until last June when we heard we had a chance.

“Prior to the alterations going on, there was no chance we could get involved in ladies cricket, the gents toilets and showers were all in one area so it was not possible. This will get us in line for creating women’s cricket from children up to a ladies side here eventually.”
