Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard will not face criminal action after he lashed out at a ball boy during last night’s Capital One Cup semi-final defeat to Swanssea. (The Independent)

The Football Association has received Sir Alex Ferguson’s observations about his post-match comments at Tottenham last Sunday. Ferguson submitted the information prior to the 6pm deadline, the FA confirmed. Now the FA has until Tuesday evening to decide whether to formally charge Ferguson. (Daily Mail)

Tottenham have had a second attempt to sign Lewis Holtby in January blocked by Schalke. The German midfielder has signed a pre-contract agreement with Spurs that would see him move as a free agent at the end of the season. (The Mirror)

Massadio Haidara has become the latest French import at Newcastle — while yet another is on the way. Haidara, 20, has signed a 5½-year deal from Nancy, where he made 17 appearances this season in the French top flight. And French international midfielder Moussa Sissoko, 22, is set to join from Toulouse, subject to a medical on Tyneside, according to the Ligue 1 club’s official website. (The Sun)

England name Test and one-day squads for tour of New Zealand as Tim Bresnan ruled out with elbow problem. Warwickshire’s Chris Woakes will replace him in both those squads and will also take the place presumably earmarked for Bresnan in the 15-man Test party that was also announced on Thursday.
