Crawley Town 1, Oxford United 5: A fan's view

Michael Appleton’s side are now four points clear of the play-off zone with five games remaining.

Initially there were no signs of Crawley being overwhelmed as Joe McNerney put his side ahead with a great right-footed shot but Oxford’s Chris Maguire levelled the scorings five minutes before half time.

However, in the second half Oxford began to dominate and fantastic finishes from O’Dowda and Sercombe put the visitors ahead.

Things got worse for Crawley as they gave away a penalty that was scored by Maguire.

A few home fans started to leave in the 85th minute when Oxford’s Waring scored to put his side 5-1 up.

Crawley are now without a win since early March and home fans hope Crawley will notch one up in their remaining games against Carlisle and Barnet.

Manager Mark Yates stated after the match that it was very depressing and he thanked his keeper Rose because Oxford could of scored a couple more.

Oxford remain second after the win but Crawley drop to 17th and although they are safe from relegation, they need to try and finish on a high.

Crawley travel to Wimbledon next Saturday and Oxford host Luton hoping they can get three more points.
