Billingshurst captain Ben Williams and his team are ecstatic after clinching their second successive promotion.
They went up from Division 2 into the top flight by gaining a fantastic six-wicket home win against Goring on Sea on Saturday.
Delighted Williams said: “Gaining two promotions in my first two seasons as captain is the proudest moment for the club.
“I feel a good team ethic and atmosphere has been key in that success.”
Billingshurst have now earned the right to play the elite and will face with local giants Horsham and Roffey.
Scott Stratton led the way with an unbeaten 66 to help ‘Hurst to 121-4 in reply to Goring’s 119 all out.
During the Goring innings Dhanushka Mitipolaarchichi took 3-21, Andy Barr claimed 2-15, Shane West took 2-31 and David Dunn took 2-7.
Williams revealed: “It was a good solid bowling performance with wickets taken by five bowlers.
“Consistent performances by our bowlers throughout the season won us promotion.”
With one more game to play at Ifield in Crawley this Saturday, Billingshurst have a chance to win the Division two title if they can win their final game.
Williams added: “We are going to play in the Sussex Premier League for the first time in our history. It was lovely to host the Sussex game at our club on Sunday by way of a celebration. The club owes this reward to the hard work of Jim Burroughs and Chris Shambrook over the years.”
