WEST Sussex junior golfer Matt Greenfield took the trophy for top English boy in an international competition in Malta.
The 13-year-old Pyecombe Golf Club member, who plays off a five handicap, was among 16 Sussex Under-14 junior golfers who had their first taste of international competition when they took part in the first International Junior Championship at Royal Malta Golf Club.

Accompanied by county junior organiser Alan Covey and team manager David Wicks, the team competed against young players from Malta, Italy, Belgium and Germany.

Two other stars of the Sussex squad were Sam Burgess of Sedlescombe Golf Club, who won the first handicap prize with a net 128 over two days. David Wicks Junior, also from Sedlescombe, came second in the scratch competition.
