A CHILDREN'S author was given the opportunity to meet the young people she inspired at a recent literary event.
Marcia Williams met year five pupils from Shoreham's St Nicolas and St Mary's Primary School during a Teachers' Literacy Conference in Horsham.

The author, who writes children's books and illustrates comic strips of classic tales, explained to Lily Taylor, Lizzie Doran and Alexander Papas that she started writing because of her own, negative, childhood reading experiences.

Head teacher David Etherton said, "Working with authors can be a real inspiration.

"It helps motivate children and results in some outstanding work."

Marcia told Lily, Lizzie and Alexander how she created Flossie Albright's Diary and the girls also got the opportunity to show Marcia and teachers from across West Sussex their own literary efforts.
