This weekend sees the return of the biggest and the best youth football tournament with this year’s Furngate Sixes tournament.
It is again sponsored by your community-minded Crawley Observer. and will be held at the superbly spacious playing fields at the Oakwood School in Horley.
A total of 150 teams from all over Crawley, Hoorley, Horsham, and all over Sussex and even south London will be in action from 9.30am both days with the under-sevens, under-nines, U11s, U13s, U15s and U18s groups being and knock-out matches being held on Saturday.
On Sunday it will be the turn of the under-eights, U10s, U12s, U14s and U16s.
Most of the age-groups will finish with a final which over the years has produced some thrilling displays, including some heart-stopping penalty shoot-outs.
Refreshments will be available from the marquee where friendly volunteers will be cooking tasty burgers and hotdogs plus hot and cold drinks will be for sale.
There will also be an ice cream van to give players and spectators a chance to cool down.
Organisers Raj Dhiman and Anne Truett are asking for all teams to arrive and report for registration by 9am on both days.
