Prejudices in the way

CAROLE Woodiwiss might concede that Israel was founded in 1948 out of Palestine. Not the other way round.

Palestine is now a rump.

For the best part of two millenia there was no such thing as a Jewish state, and they were a minority in the area until immigration during the Palestine Mandate.

‘Palestinians’ have already been forced to ‘compromise’ twice, in 1948 and again twenty years later.

Agreement by compromise is highly commendable between equal parties. Palestinians are not equal, and with any more forced ‘compromises’ they will cease to exist.

Either there should be a new Palestinian-Jewish state, or an equal division between Palestine and Israel.

Neither of which is at all likely with current prejudices of an unmentionable kind.
