I DISAGREE with Mr Robbens (WSG Letter February 27), the EU are dictating to us regarding the closure of some power stations, thus putting us in a more vulnerable position, we already rely on imported gas which is far from desirable , so solar panels do have an attraction, but putting them on prime agricultural land is not acceptable, we have to be as self sufficient as we can in growing wheat, vegetables etc and rearing livestock, the horse meat problem highlighting this need.
I think the willow growing feature on Country File would not have involved prime land, willows like moist conditions.
An excellent paper, well done!
