LETTER: Sensible location for new housing

In his interim report on the Horsham planning framework, the government inspector Geoff Salter states that the plan is ‘not sound’ and requires ‘significant changes’ (paragraph 27).

He explains that the ‘compelling reason’ to increase the housing target is due to the shortfall in provision by the neighbouring authority, Crawley, that suffers ‘un-resolvable constraints’ (para 13).

Surely the only sensible, logical and acceptable location for those extra houses should be adjacent to Crawley on the land west of Ifield that has been promoted by a consortium of developers since 2009, and NOT in places scores of miles away from where they are needed like Southwater and Billingshurst?
