Keeping our roads safe

I was delighted to be present at Arundel Police Station on Friday afternoon to see demonstrations of the latest equipment being deployed by Sussex Police to keep our roads safe and free from accidents.

The event was in order to mark the move of the Road Policing Unit from its previous base in Chichester to the well situated base in Arundel.

The enthusiasm shown by all of the staff at the new base helped all of us present to understand why moving the unit was so important if Sussex Police are to keep our roads moving freely.

The ceremony was also timed to coincide with the launch of the latest drink driving campaign in Sussex.

One of the demonstrations was of a simulator for drivers to fully understand the impact of drink driving on their ability to control a car, I would heartily recommend a session on the simulator to all drivers.
