West Dean tutor painting at Wimbledon tennis

THE All England Lawn Tennis Club has commissioned artist Jason Bowyer, one of West Dean’s art tutors, to paint and draw what goes on “Behind the scenes” at this year’s Wimbledon Championships.

He will be involved in bringing to life the unseen world of the groundsmen’s ‘bivouac’, Archie the carpenter’s workshop, the racquet stringers’ workshop and the practice grounds.

Jason commented: “I am very honoured to be able to take up this position and look forward to making some exciting and imaginative work.”

Jason was born in 1957 in London, studied at Camberwell and the R.A.Schools. He is the founder of the NEAC School of Drawing. s well as tutoring in painting at West Dean College, Jason runs courses for small, select groups in painting and drawing at his studio, based at Kew Bridge Steam Museum.
