Maidenbower Ponds, in Billinton Drive, received a clean-up when residents teamed up with volunteers from the Gatwick Greenspace Partnership to remove invasive pond weed.

The affect of the weed, called parrot’s feather (Myriophyllum aquaticum), can be devastating, making it difficult for other plants and animals to survive underneath it. Two more clean-up days are planned, today (Wednesday August 21) and Thursday September 12. Anyone who would like to help should bring their wellies to the site between 9.45am and 3pm.
