THE countdown to Christmas officially began on Saturday with a festive extravaganza in Worthing.
Crowds of people flocked to see seasonal entertainment take place in South Street Square.
Real reindeer, a magician, live music and much more were on hand to spread the spirit of Christmas.
Sharon Clarke, Worthing town centre initiative manager, said: “It’s always a challenging event because we quite often get bad weather but it’s an absolute delight today. Sunny Worthing is living up to its name.”
Sharon and her team gave out free reusable shopping bags which she described as ‘an early Christmas present for Worthing’s shoppers.’
“I think whenever you are giving out something for nothing it gives people a smile and makes them feel positive about the town. Something like this brings people together,” she said.
