Staff at Cisswood House Hotel were thanked at a presentation from the National Association of Toastmasters earlier today (Wednesday October 2).
General manager Vicky Marsden and sales manager Nicky Heywood were presented with a signed certificate from long-serving toastmaster Tony Forward, who has worked with the hotel for five years, but is set to retire.
Tony made a short speech, thanking the hotel managers for their ‘loyalty’, before handing over the certificate which read, ‘thank you for your continued support’.
He said: “I have had the pleasure over the years of being the toastmaster here and looking after their wedding receptions.
“They are a very friendly team, very professional and the food is excellent!”
Tony was joined by fellow toastmasters Alexander ‘Pav’ Michaels and Kieran Diamond for the presentation.
Vicky said that to receive the recognition was ‘a great privilege’.
She added: “For five years we have worked very closely with Tony, but also Pav, and Kieran going forward.
“It is their professionalism and their organisational skills - they take charge of the whole event and it takes the weight off me to organise everybody and make sure they are in the ruight place at the right time.
“They have been as asset to us really.”
Tony detailed the many roles a toastmaster performs at a wedding - from meeting and greeting and organising guests to making sure the bride and groom do not meet until they reach the altar.
