Northgate residents have teamed up with Sussex Police to monitor traffic speeds.
Community Speed Watch (CSW) supports the police by monitoring the speed of vehicles through local communities.
All volunteers are trained by police officers in how to use speed monitoring equipment.
On Friday (August 30), the group - including members of the Northgate Matters neighbourhood forum - met in Woodfield Road.
Volunteer Derek Voak appealed for drivers to slow down on the road - which has a 30mph speed limit - and reported that one driver had been clocked travelling at 48mph.
All information gathered by CSW volunteers about motorists driving illegally is passed on to Sussex Police.
