SOUTHWICK traders and residents aired their views on their town centre at a public meeting last night.

“It is looking an absolute pit,” said one resident.

People called for action to bring shoppers to Southwick Square and help make it look bright again.

Signposts were needed, they said, as well as improvements like flower beds and hanging baskets.

There were also calls for free parking, or a return to the disc system that used to operate in the car park.

East Worthing and Shoreham MP said traders and residents needed to organise themselves into an official group.

He said he would put a survey around and feed the views back to Adur District Council.
