CARS were inches deep in water while Shoreham was on flood alert this lunchtime.
Vehicles parked by Riverside Business Centre, in Surry Hard, had water lapping up the wheels and close to the undercarriage.
Environment Agency staff were patrolling the riverside around midday today, having put the town on Flood Alert for high tide.
The water reached close to the top of the flood arch by Adur Recreation Ground but staff on scene said it did not appear to have gone over the edge at any point.
Worst affected were the slipways, particularly in Surry Hard.
The agency said: “This flood alert was issued for the high tide at noon, Friday, February 20. However, tides will remain high and sometimes of higher magnitude until Monday.”
