VIDEO: New road layout for Horsham town centre
Traffic could be redirected away from Albion Way to facilitate the new ‘John Lewis’ development being linked to the town centre.
The developer behind the £35 million redevelopment of the Bishopric and Albion Way area, first revealed by the County Times (31/1/13), has taken ownership of Bishops Weald House, home to MacDonalds and Argos.
While the ground level retailers will remain trading, three quarters of the 35,000 sq ft of office space above is vacant and the building is likely to be ‘mothballed’.
This will permit developers Westrock to explore new options for the vast building, while ownership also facilitates them developing new linkages between the town centre and the site across Albion Way (see picture).
Watch the video for further explanation and to see how a new road layout could turn a busy Albion Way into a pedestrian friendly boulevard.
