A TEAM from the fire service were on hand in South Street Square, Worthing, earlier today to encourage members of the public to test their smoke alarms when the clocks go back on Sunday morning.
Sarah Smith, community fire safety officer, said people could be complacent when it came to the dangers of fire.
“Lots of people think it won’t happen to them, I tell people if the Queen can have a fire at Windsor Castle it can happen to them,” she said.
“Our message is don’t just hope it works, know it works and the only way you can do that is by testing it.”
