Crawley was one of the coldest places in the country yesterday (Thursday April 4) as tempertures reached just 2.6C.
The Met Office said the mercury fell well below the average maximum temperature for April, which is usually around 12C.
But although Crawley was one of the more chilly spots in the country, it was not the coldest.
That accolade went to Wych Cross in East Sussex which only reached 0.6C with several other spots in the country not getting above 2C.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: “The nearest weather station to Crawley is Charlwood, which had a top temperature yesterday of 2.6C.
“This is well below the average max temp for April, which is about 12C, so it’s fair to say it was an exceptionally cold day for the time of year!”
Our photographer Jon Rigby was out and about in Crawley yesterday as yet more snow fell.
