CHATSMORE Catholic High School head Mike Madden was ‘delighted’ with a significant improvement in results on last year’s low figures.

In 2012, just 43 per cent managed the gold standard of five A*-C grades, including English and maths – but this year, 59 per cent did so.

The 16 per cent increase was testament to the hard work of staff and students, Mr Madden noted.

He said: “I am delighted with the results, especially the significant progress students have made since joining the school, and I am particularly pleased for the English and maths teams, who after the national debacle of last summer, have shown great resilience and character in helping their students achieve excellent results this year.”
