The UK Independance party (UKIP) is fielding candidates in all nine available seats at the May 2 county council elections.
Norman Leslie Aston will contest Labour-held Bewbush & Ifield West from Chris Oxlade. Mia Danielle Bristow stands in Broadfield, held by Tory Alan Quirk, and to be contested by Labour’s Brian Quinn.
Stephen Wade stands in Tory Keith Blake-held Gossops Green & Ifield West, with Sue Mullins standing for Labour. Peter Brent will stand in Langley Green & West Green against incumbent Labour’s Brenda Smith.
Simon Mizzi is standing in Maidenbower against Tory Bob Lanzer and Labour challenger Peter Smith. Andrew Gill will contest Northgate & Three Bridges against the Tories, held by Bob Burgess with Labour’s Peter Lamb also challenging.
John McCanna will stand in Tory Richard Burrett-held seat Pound Hill & Worth, also set to be contested by Labour’s David Shreeves.
Southgate & Crawley central will be fought by UKIP’s David Matthews and Labour’s Michael Jones in the Tory Howard Bloom -held seat.
UKIP’s Graham Harper will take on the Conservatives in Tilgate & Furnace Green, a seat held by Duncan Crow, and due to be challneged by Labour’s Collin Moffatt.
The Liberal Democrats and Conservatives are expected to announce their candidates this week.
